2013-11-30 12.04.02This is what I have been doing the past 6 years!  I closed my Nutrition practice doors in Sept 2009 when my second baby was about to be born.  I wanted to spend as much time with my young children as I could, it was the best decision I ever made.  Three and half years later, we had a third baby.  In my time at home, I  have learned a TREMENDOUS amount about raising healthy children while keeping myself fit and healthy.

I was lucky in one way, I grew up very active.  It was ingrained in my brain to sweat, stay active, push myself physically.  This discipline and habit has paid off very well for me.  However, I gained 45-50 lbs EACH pregnancy.  I about died when I saw the scale say 185 lbs when it was time to deliver each child!  I thought my weight would come off easily, but it didn’t.  I had to work at it each time, very hard.  I put myself on a healthy eating plan that lowered my calories, so my body would lose.  I also had to commit to consistent exercise, despite all the distractions.  I lost the weight slowly, 2-4 lbs a month.  By the time each baby was 8 to 9 months old, I was back to my ideal weight.

So, we are done having children (just turned 40!) , our “baby” is two, and my second is about to go to Kindergarten.  It’s time for me to start working again part-time, so I am re-booting my nutrition and health coaching practice.  Oh, did I mention I am opening a health food store, too?  My store will be called Local Health Market.  We are going to carry healthy, convenience foods and juices, a carefully selected mix of supplements and natural products, and a prepared foods line. We are located in San Antonio at 16535 Huebner Rd. (Near Bitters).  We will launch our ECommerce Local Health Market in September, 2015.

Another change I am making is my approach to working with clients.  I am not just a nutritionist, I am a health and life coach, a permanent lifestyle change expert.

My first step will be to identify all the stressors that are causing the poor lifestyle choices.  Stressors are unhealthy behaviors, mindsets, and situations that are CAUSING the health and weight issues.

Some examples are:

  • Inactivity
  • Kid’s and house always come first mentality
  • Strangled by finances
  • Dis-organized, lack of planning
  • Pattern of harsh self judgement
  • All or Nothing mindset, poor moderation skills

Next I will be to determine the change readiness and commitment level of the client, to determine the best approach.  For very motivated and determined folks, I will start with a 7-21 day challenge of clean eating and a diet detox.  For others that get stressed out from reading the last sentence, I will start with a few changes a month.

I am offering a FREE report, The Seven Secrets of Fit and Energetic People, to anyone who signs up for my blog:  https://sarahtreatnutrition.com/free-sign-up/

Many of us tend to push our own health off. We think of others wants and needs before our own and eventually it becomes too late. But what we have to remember is that without our own health and wellness, we can’t be our best for our families and friends. So for their sakes, it’s our responsibility to take control of our health and move it in the right direction. I have a masters in nutrition. My practice focuses on finding the root cause for our client's symptoms, and using a natural approach for healing that naturally includes healthy eating and eating real food.
